Crews battle trash fire after garbage truck dumps its load in roadway

TICE, Fla.An afternoon trash fire forced a garbage truck driver to dump their load in the middle of the intersection at Enterprise Pkwy and Division Dr in Tice.


The incident was reported to the Tice Fire District at 12:33 PM on Tuesday.


SWFLUC was monitoring local traffic cameras real-time when we noticed the situation on the I-75 NB camera at the 140-mile marker near Luckett.


We watched as the garbage truck driver dumped their load into the road, revealing a large fire within the garbage.


Fire crews arrived quickly, and as livestreamed on our Facebook page, promptly knocked down the trash fire.

Garbage fires are usually the result of improperly disposing garbage, such as putting lithium-ion batteries with household garbage.


We have reached out to the TFD for comment on the incident.
